Type of Program
The Emergency Department (ED) at South Shore University Hospital is a community based tertiary care hospital in Bay Shore, NY with approximately 76,000 visits annually, and high levels of acuity. The ED is staffed by board certified emergency physicians. The ED is an American College of Surgeons verified Level II trauma center. We are also an American Heart Association award winning stroke and STEMI center. Our department is a 911 ground and FAA approved air transport receiving hospital. The recently expanded department is designed with numerous critical care areas as well as a robust trauma bay equipped with instruments in ultrasound, ECMO, advanced airway equipment, and neonate resuscitation to handle the wide variety of highly complex cases.
