University of Nebraska

Welcome to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography fellowship and thank you for your interest. We hope you'll check out our full page to see what makes UNMC such a great place to train.

We are one of only a few fellowships that is both EUFAC and CUAP Accredited
https://eufacouncil.org/about-accreditation/accredited-programs/
https://www.acep.org/cuap/accredited-sites/

Graduates from our program will be eligible to sit for ABEM's AEMUS focused practice designation (FPD) if they are ABEM board-certified. (Recent EM resident graduates who ABEM are board-eligible may also sit for the exam once they are ABEM board-certified.)

UNMC offers opportunities that are unrivaled. Whether you are considering a career in academics or community medicine we are an ideal location to complete an ultrasound fellowship. Fellows will have clinical experiences in both an academic tertiary/quaternary care facility and a community ED. Working in both environments allows fellows to develop both their educational and clinical skills.

Our academic center ED has an annual census of 60,000+ visits (30% admission rate; 4% ICU admission rate). It includes a level 1 trauma, cancer, stroke, and transplant centers. Our community site is located 20 minutes from the main campus and has an annual census of 30,000+. Between these two locations, fellows will have the opportunity to see a wide range of pathologies that will significantly advance their skills as a physician. https://www.nebraskamed.com/about-us/fast-facts

There are diverse experiences in teaching. These opportunities include educating medical students, residents and fellows across multiple specialties, and EM attendings. These experiences will prepare any fellow for US leadership regardless of their future practice environment.

Our Missions:

For residents:
Train physicians to improve patient care by effective integration of point-of-care ultrasound into the daily care of patients.

For fellows:
