Stony Brook Emergency Medicine

Welcome to the Stony Brook Advanced Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship!

Stony Brook University Hospital is a busy Level 1 Trauma Center located in Suffolk County, New York with an annual ED volume of >125K patients. As the only tertiary care center in Suffolk County, we see a wide array of pathology and serve the very diverse patient population of eastern Long Island. Our Emergency Department annually sees >1000 full trauma activations. Unlike NY city programs, we have a wide catchment area that includes both urban and rural regions. Our helicopter EMS service transports >450 patients by air each year.

The Stony Brook Ultrasound Fellowship includes unique opportunities to integrate your experience with both our Resuscitation & Critical Care Medicine and Global/International Emergency Medicine fellowship training programs. Both are led by well-known innovators in our field.

Why Long Island?

Stony Brook is unique from the NY city programs. Our campus is surrounded by gorgeous north and south shore beaches, state parks, and fall foliage. With easy access to everything from the famed beaches of Montauk & North Fork wine country to Brooklyn and Manhattan, we are an ideal spot for both urban and outdoors recreation. Suffolk County has exceptional bike trails, golf courses, vineyards, farm stands, craft breweries, historic lighthouses, and sandy shorelines. Locals enjoy surfing, off-shore fishing, kite boarding, trail running, scuba diving, cross country skiing, road biking, and sailing. Multiple ferries take you across the Long Island Sound to Connecticut for easy access to Boston, Providence, the Adirondacks, and the gateway to New England. There are 3 International airports within 1 hour and some of the top school systems in the country. If that isn't enough, a quick trip to Penn Station on the Long Island Rail Road brings you to the world-renowned restaurants, shows, museums, sports, and cultural events of NYC.
