Number of Clinical Hours:

Approximately 7 shifts (64 hours/month)

Other Duties

5 scanning shifts/month
Weekly video review and QA
Ultrasound lectures and hands-on teaching to faculty, residents and medical students
Participate in ultrasound skill workshops
Organize ultrasound journal club
Complete one research project
Maintain ultrasound equipment
Participate in Emergency Medicine faculty credentialing program

Additional Opportunities

Fellows will have opportunities to participate in:
- Local, regional, national, and international ultrasound courses.
- A 4 year Medical Student ultrasound curriculum, including an annual ultrasound games.
- Ultrasound development and program design in various settings including EMS and EM programs outside the United States.

Educational Experience

POCUS mastery through image acquisition, interpretation, and clinical integration:
Advanced ultrasound application instruction
1,000 POCUS studies required during the fellowship
Ultrasound faculty proctored scanning shifts
Weekly ultrasound QA conference

Educational design and instruction innovation:
Faculty, resident & medical student education

Administrative expertise:
Ultrasound workflow
Quality assurance and credentialing
Billing and reimbursement

Scholarly activity:
Research project development and implementation
FOAM and other scholarly collaborations
Local, regional, and national journal clubs

Image Review

Weekly review of images with fellow, core ultrasound faculty, residents, and medical students.
