Fellowship Program

Length of Fellowship:

Typically 1 year duration However, 2 years if fellows are interested in obtaining a Masters Degree from the UCLA School of Public Health or Public Policy and/or would like to combine with another research, global health, or medical education fellowship


Competitive with full-benefits through UCLA.

Additional Funds

CME and travel funds for presentations.

Number of Clinical Hours:

Roughly 80 clinical hours per month, split between Olive View and Reagan-UCLA. There is an opportunity to moonlight within the UCLA hospital system, or moonlight in the community.

Other Duties

Weekly scanning shifts
Teaching during resident academic conference
Assistance with resident/student ultrasound rotation
Assistance with ED ultrasound QA
Research projects (anticipate at least one during fellowship)
Opportunity to teach UCLA medical students and to help with implementation of US in the medical school curriculum.

TWO sites (clinically will be mostly at OV-UCLA):
Olive View-UCLA Medical Center - Sylmar, CA
Ronald Reagan-UCLA Medical Center - Westwood, CA

Additional Opportunities

Travel to Nicaragua and/or Chile to teach ultrasound.
Part-time fellowships in clinical research or medical education.

Educational Experience

One of the unique features of this program is that there are two sites, and thus two different US programs. From an administrative/leadership standpoint, the fellow will have a rounded and balanced experience as a result.

You have an opportunity to obtain research training through UCLA CTSI or medical education training through the UCLA Medical Education Fellowship. In addition, a combined, two-year ultrasound-research fellowship may be available.
