Educational Experience

Personal education:
The fellow’s primary ultrasound education will occur within the emergency department. Opportunities exist for ultrasound educational experiences outside the department if the fellow desires.

Program Development:
The fellow will learn how to successfully establish and manage an ultrasound program. This will be accomplished through department QA/QI projects, managing educational rotations and interdepartmental growth.

Fellows will also participate in hospital leadership conferences throughout the year.

Image Review

We use Qpath, a commercial software program for ultrasound data management. This allows us to perform image review for both training and clinical studies. Staff, fellows, residents, and students receive feedback on image quality, interpretation and clinical implementation on the exams they perform. Clinical images are archived in PACS and clinical reports are archived in the patient's medical chart as billed, formal studies.
