EM residents graduate with over 400 completed, correctly interpreted examinations performed.

Is there a dedicated US month?

EM residents have a total of 3 weeks of dedicated Emergency US rotation experience. One 2-week block as a 1st-year and one 1-week block as a 2nd-year resident.

Is there an US elective?

Yes. There is an elective block for 4th-year residents

Fellows are scheduled for weekly scanning shifts to work with residents and credentialed faculty members.

All scans performed in the department are quality reviewed on a weekly basis. All residents in an emergency medicine rotation are welcomed to participate.

Number of hours didactics

Residents are required to attend an Introduction to Emergency Ultrasound course. In addition, residents have Emergency Ultrasound didactics incorporated into the resident conference every month (alternates between 1 hour and 2 hour blocks each month). This includes lectures by fellowship trained US faculty as well as hands-on scanning time.
