Number of Clinical Hours

780 clinical hours (~15 hours per week) working as a part-time attending physician in ~1-2 of the 7 emergency departments.

Other Duties

Non-clinical responsibilities (~15 hours per week) will be dedicated to ultrasound including:
-Scan shifts with US faculty
-Scan shifts with EM residents and medical students
-Independent scan shifts
-Image review and quality assurance (QA)
-Providing didactic education to residents and medical students
-Participating in medical student US education
-Participating in US CME courses for EM providers
-US research
-Emergency Ultrasound Division conferences

~1-2 of the 7 emergency departments that are staffed by our Department of Emergency Medicine.

Additional Opportunities

Opportunities to contribute to educational experiences for community EM physicians, other specialties within the health system, medical students, nursing, EMTs, and Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) are available.

Educational Experience

The fellow's educational experience will largely be provided by the emergency ultrasound fellowship trained faculty within the Division of Emergency Ultrasound. We have excellent and collaborative relationships with other Departments and can help facilitate any additional educational experiences the fellow may desire.

Image Review

We have a comprehensive image review and quality assurance (QA) process. The Division oversees the approximate 12,000 point-of-care ultrasound scans that are performed each year in the emergency departments within the system. Emergency departments are accredited by ACEPs Clinical Ultrasound Accreditation Program. We utilize Qpath to complete our image review. Clinically-indicated ultrasound exams completed by US credentialed faculty are visible to other providers within the PACS system. The EMR utilized is Epic.
