We provide opportunities to practice ultrasonography with faculty from multiple disciplines outside the Emergency Department, including the Medical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Anesthesia (Transesophageal Echocardiography), Cardiology, Regional Anesthesia, Neurology (Transcranial Doppler), and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Musculoskeletal). We are intimately involved in the medical school through our administration of the longitudinal MS1-4 ultrasound curriculum, specialty-specific electives, and Ultrasound Interest Group. We also provide regular lectures at resident conference, administer both required rotations and advanced electives, and moderate the highly popular monthly Ultrasound Rounds. Our division also has significant departmental resources, research support, and mentorship.

Albany Medical Center
Welcome to the Emergency Ultrasound (EUS) Fellowship Program at Albany Medical Center.
As a mature residency training program begun in 1988, we initiated the EUS Fellowship with several goals in mind. Primary among these goals is the training of capable and motivated emergency physicians to become exceptional contributors to the field of emergency ultrasound. We strive to achieve excellence in patient care, while advancing clinical standards through the employment of ultrasound technologies. The program is situated within the regions largest hospital, with a referral base encompassing 46% of the state of New York, and resulting in both a high patient volume and acuity. This together with a departmental culture rooted in education, conspire to create an exceptional environment for collaboration and the training of our fellows. Our institutions unique investment in simulated technologies and sizeable ultrasound scan center also allows for our fellows to contribute to cutting edge simulation research.
We believe in working closely with our fellows, with a focus on bedside education, to ensure mastery of the essential aspects of emergency ultrasound, including image acquisition, scan interpretation, user education, program administration, quality assurance, and research.
With balance in mind, Albany sits on the Hudson River surrounded by four mountain ranges, the Adirondacks, Berkshires, Shawingunks, and Catskills, thus opportunities for outdoor recreation abound, from crewing/kayaking, to hiking/biking/camping. As the state capital of New York, Albany also offers a range of cultural and family activities from easily accessible Broadway shows to 30+ small museums and historic sites. Outdoor music venues include Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony, SPAC with the New York City Ballet, and a range of smaller concert venues. For additional urban tastes Boston & NY city are only 2.5 hours away, with regular train service into NYC, and Montreal is only 3.5 hrs.
Thank you again for your interest and visiting our site. We look forward to hearing from you.
