Welcome to the HCA Florida Kendall Hospital Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Page.

The Fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound is a one-year program. The hospital is an academic community hospital located in Miami, Florida. It is a busy Level I Trauma Center and Burn Center with Comprehensive Stroke and Chest Pain Center designations, treating more than 90,000 patients annually.

We have a three-year Emergency Medicine residency program and a dedicated faculty with additional fellowship training in various specialties, including Pediatrics, EMS, Wilderness, Simulation, ED administration, and International Medicine.

Ultrasound Fellowship Education

This fellowship started in July 2020. Fellows will undertake a year-long curriculum based on EUFAC recommendations to achieve expertise in Emergency Ultrasound. The objective of the fellowship is to provide fellows with all the skills needed to excel not only as Emergency Ultrasound directors but also as leaders in the Emergency Ultrasound community. Fellows will participate in additional ultrasound courses and workshops throughout their fellowship.

Other Information

Our fellows attend all the major national conferences, such as SCUF, ACEP, SAEM, AIUM, and FLAAEM.

We have a resuscitative TEE program that started in 2023. Our protocol defines a focused 4-view evaluation using TEE for cardiac arrest patients to provide diagnostic and therapeutic information that can enhance medical decision-making during resuscitation.
