Point-of-care ultrasonography is an essential tool in today’s practice of Emergency Medicine. The Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship at RWJBH Community Medical Center was developed to further train emergency physicians in the utilization of this important diagnostic modality, as well as, develop a strong foundation for fellows’ academic and administrative career advancement as leaders in the field.
The fellowship consists of hands-on experience at Community Medical Center, a 592 bed tertiary academic hospital located in Toms River, New Jersey. Fellows work closely with emergency medicine residents, as well as, rotating medical students given the fellowship is strongly integrated within the hospitals three-year ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine Residency and Rutgers University. Additionally, fellows will develop a working relationship with departmental, hospital, and system administrators while gaining exposure to operational components such as policy development, billing, and machine maintenance.
