Ultrasound Fellowship Education
Personal Education:
The initial primary focus of the fellowship is to ensure that the fellow develops the necessary technical skills to perform and implement all clinical emergency ultrasound applications. This is accomplished with bedside teaching, scanning labs, and image review.
Administrative Education:
Under the direction of the ultrasound faculty, the fellow will manage the ultrasound rotations in the ED including the medical student, intern, elective resident, and off-service rotations. The fellow will also lecture periodically throughout the year on select ultrasound topics.
The fellow will actively participate in all administrative duties for running the department's ultrasound program. This will include bedside education with current attending physicians working toward privileges, development of educational programs, quality assurance measures, and continued development or interdepartmental relationships as it relates to bedside ultrasound.
Research or Quality Improvement:
The fellow will have the option of developing one original research project or one original quality improvement project. This will allow the fellow to tailor their project to future career goals. Fellows will also participate in any ongoing ultrasound research and quality improvement projects.
