20 hours per week on average

20-30 hours per week:
-- Scanning shifts per month with core faculty
-- Administrative projects (PACS, CQI, etc)
-- Committeee work (SWPOCUS committee)
-- Research project
-- Resident teaching (Fellows also involved in teaching ultrasound to trauma residents/fellows and critical care fellows)
--Medical student teaching (The Division has an active 4th year elective for medical students. The Division is also involved in using ultrasound to teach clinical anatomy to 1st and 2nd year medical students.)

We have 4 sites. Fellows will work clinical shifts at our main campus ED and community ED sites.

US teaching opportunities to residents and faculty from other services, and basic and advanced ultrasound courses through Ohio ACEP.
Educational and Lecture opportunities through weekly Grand Rounds -available on our You-Tube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@MetroHealthEmergencyUltrasound - with over 6,000 subscribers.
MHMC is currently in the process of selecting a system-wide middleware for POCUS studies. The fellow will have a role in this project.

Most education is provied through the Emergency Department but fellows also work with Cardiology, ICU Staff, Anesthesia and Radiology . Didactics covering critical advanced US topics are provided weekly, in addition to Grand Rounds, and participation in the National AEUS/ACEP Journal club on a monthly basis.

ED studies are stored on the hospital's PACS system ( with video) and review of studies is done on a weekly/biweekly basis.
