Program Description

Type of Program

The Pediatric Point-Of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine & Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston is one of the few pediatric POCUS fellowships in the southern United States. We are located in the nation’s fourth largest and one of its most diverse cities. Our 5 pediatric POCUS fellowship-trained faculty and 1 POCUS fellow comprise Team Grayscale, one of the largest POCUS groups found nationally.

Texas Children's Hospital at the Baylor College of Medicine is one of the nation's premier children's hospitals and home to the largest number of pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists in the largest medical center in the world. As a level I pediatric trauma center with an estimated annual census of 69,000 patients at the Main Campus in the Texas Medical Center and an additional 108,000 patients at the West Campus and Woodlands campuses, our children's hospital provides a unique educational experience combining high pediatric patient volume with a variety of patient pathologies.

The pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) division at Texas Children's Hospital & Baylor College of Medicine consists of 60+ faculty. The emergency center serves as an educational home for 18 PEM fellows, 1 global health PEM fellow, 1 pediatric POCUS fellow, medical students, and residents from the pediatrics, emergency medicine, and family medicine programs of the Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and Brooke Army Medical Center in nearby San Antonio.
