6-8 shifts/month OR 10-16 hours per week

Other Duties

Fellow will assist with the resident ultrasound elective, and ultrasound education of nurses, physician assistants, residents, medical students, and senior staff. Will participate in ongoing research projects, complete required scan shifts and participate in process improvement sessions including quality assurance. The fellow will also be responsible for the 4th year Medical Student Ultrasound Rotation in the Emergency Department through Wayne State.
Participate as an instructor during formal courses through the HFH Ultrasound University.

Number of Sites

Fellow will work only at the Henry Ford Hospital main campus in Detroit, MI.

Developing curricula and active involvement in undergraduate medical ultrasound education at Wayne State University School of Medicine - First pioneered by Dr Scott Dulchavsky, in 2006, Chair Dept. of Surgery at HFH.
Rotation in the vascular lab for advanced training

International Critical care US course and other courses sponsored throughout the year by the Henry Ford Hospital Ultrasound University, and the International Bronchoscopy US course.

Moonlighting opportunities at the main campus or HFHS satellite hospitals upon approval by fellowship director.

Educational Experience

Time spent with Fellowship Director, core ultrasound faculty, and additional US experience in MSK, echocardiography, and the vascular lab at HFHS. Multiple teaching opportunities at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Learning about curriculum development. Fellows will also have the opportunity to complete the ACEP Emergency Basic Research Skills Course (EMBRS). Fellows will have the opportunity to complete the ESP Ultrasound physics course.
TEE training with critical care anesthesiologists.

Image Review

Weekly review of images with fellow, core ultrasound faculty, residents, and medical students. Web based image review of medical student scans.
Image review via Q-pathE, first established at HFH in 2010
